Christmas Caprese Wreath

This elegant appetizer is easy to make and one that absolutely everybody will love. Made with juicy cherry tomatoes and creamy mozzarella balls which are tossed in evoo and seasonings then topped with fresh basil and served with balsamic glaze.

Ingredients

  • 52 cherry tomatoes
  • 52 mini mozzarella balls
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp italian seasoning
  • 2 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • 4 oz fresh basil leaves
  • 4 oz balsamic glaze
  • 26 wooden skewers

Instructions

  • Wash tomatoes and place into a large bowl. Add mozzarella balls to bowl with tomatoes.
  • To the bowl with tomatoes and mozzarella, add olive oil, Italian seasoning, sea salt and black pepper. Toss to coat.
  • Chiffonade 1/4 cup worth of fresh basil leaves.
  • Assemble skewers by threading on one tomato and one mozzarella, then repeat. There should be two of each on each skewer.
  • Place a small bowl in the center of your serving board. Surround the bowl with skewers to make a wreath shape.
  • Sprinkle the skewers all over with sliced basil leaves and surround the edges with whole basil leaves.
  • Pour balsamic glaze into small bowl in the center of the board and serve.
